How do I request help with my computer?

If your issue is producing any error messages, please send us those error messages, as they can be very helpful in diagnosing your problem.  Where possible, we also encourage you to provide a screenshot of your problem.

How to Capture a Screenshot

  • Windows:  To take a screenshot of your current view:
    1. Press the "Print Screen" (Prt Scrn) button.
    2. Open Microsoft Paint (Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Paint)
    3. Select the "Edit" menu, then "Paste."
    4. Save the image and attach the file to your email to the Ivan Allen College IT Helpdesk.
  • Mac OS X:
    1. Create your screenshot:
      • To take a screenshot of your entire screen, press Command+Shift+3
      • To take a screenshot of a specific area, press Command+Shift+4, then select the area you want to capture.
      • To take a screenshot of a single window, press Command+Shift+4, then press Space, then click on the window.
    2. An image file will be saved to your Desktop.
    3. Attach the image file to your message to the Ivan Allen College IT Helpdesk.
